The RS170 mills logs up to 660 mm in diameter on a four-metre track, driven by a 9 hp recoil-start engine. It is the lightest of the RS series: 315 kg spread over a four-section frame that fits in a trailer and goes back together on site in a morning.

For joiners and cabinetmakers who want control over their own timber, smallholding forest owners, and heritage builders looking for sections no merchant carries.
In practice
An oak down in a plot, a roof frame to rebuild like for like: the RS170 is assembled at the foot of the tree and the beams come out on the spot. You save hauling the log and you keep control of thickness, down to 3 mm for veneer.

Blade sharpener
A blade is sharpened several times before it is replaced. The sharpener pays for itself by the second season on a mill in regular use.
Track extension
Extends milling capacity beyond the standard length. It fits and comes apart like the other frame sections.
Winch and log turner
Load and turn a log without carrying it. On large timber, this decides whether a mill is a one-person or a two-person job.
